Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, visited the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa, which suffered significant damage this summer due to Russian shelling.
They inspected the destruction inflicted on the largest Orthodox church in Odesa by a Russian missile strike on the city on July 23 of this year. At that time, the altar was completely destroyed, and the structural integrity of the building was damaged.
Currently, emergency conservation work is being carried out on this cultural heritage site. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Mark Rutte were informed that an evaluation regarding the possibility of rebuilding the cathedral is ongoing.
As it is known, the Italian government and Italian businesses have already expressed their willingness to contribute to the full restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral.
