During a working trip to the Kherson region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the construction site of the KCM-Tavriyskyi bridge and set a task to complete the first stage of the facility by May 1 next year.
The need to build the KCM-Tavriyskyi bridge in Kherson arose in 2006 due to increased load on the street and road network of the city. The facility is currently about 20% ready. To complete it, it is necessary to finalize the design and estimate documentation and determine the required amount of funds.
Head of the Kherson RSA Yuriy Husev told the President that at the end of last year the regional state administration signed an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to prepare funding for a regional road development project, including a bridge in the regional center. Document processing procedures are currently underway. However, they are delayed due to lack of funds and an investigation into one of the contractors.
In response, the President noted that there are usually many problems and deliberate delays in the construction of infrastructure facilities, but the Kherson RSA manages to build most of the facilities on schedule.
The Head of State urged not to waste time and to start construction works within the next two weeks, along with resolving procedural issues.
"Let's put it this way: during this month, in the next two weeks, I would very much like the equipment to stand here, and then deal with all the contractors in parallel. Because you and I will never build a country like this, because on the way we always have pebbles, problems and fences, over which we climb to achieve the goal. We need equipment and developers to start building this bridge," the President said.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko noted that draft amendments to the state budget of Ukraine have already been prepared and registered providing for UAH 300 million in subventions to the Kherson region.
"We will appeal to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. We have several key moments in the country - in Ternopil, Kremenchuk, Kherson region - where many facilities are simply frozen," the President said.
The Head of State insisted that the first stage of the KCM-Tavriyskyi bridge crossing must be launched by May 1 next year.
"Build a bridge for people," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
