On July 18, during a working visit to the Zaporizhzhya region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the unfinished construction project "The construction of the highway over Dnipro River in Zaporizhzhya". This is perhaps the most famous long-term construction in the city. The President gave a task to restore the completion of the bridge as soon as possible in early 2020.
Chief of service of highways in the Zaporizhzhya region Andriy Ivko said that the construction of the highway started in 2004, the contractor of work was the Department of Capital Construction of Zaporizhzhya Executive Committee of the City Council, the general contractor - PJSC "Mostobud. The object was transferred to the subordination of "Ukravtodor" in 2011. There was spent UAH 2.8 billion on financing of construction works, wich stopped in 2014.
"How much time and money it would take to complete the bridge construction?" the President asked.
According to Andriy Ivka, 35% of construction works have been completed and an adjustment of the construction project is made, which should be completed by mid-November and costs UAH 30 million. It is planned to change 50% of the project documentation. After that, an international tender for construction will be announced, and construction works will be approximately five years.
"Why five years? Give the world examples of such construction. The dam can not stand for five years. We do not need bridge after five or six years", the President said. Representatives of "Ukravtodor" explained, it is possible to complete construction of the first stage of the bridge in two years.
The Head of State urged Mayor of Zaporizhzhya Volodymyr Buryak to find funds to complete the project’s adjustment.
"The adjustment of the project should be completed by November 15," the President said. He also stressed that domestic materials should be used during the construction of the bridge.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Yuriy Lavrenyuk proposed to provide partial financing of construction works from the state budget. The President instructed Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Goncharuk to coordinate the financing of the construction of the bridge.
According to the project, the highway over Khortytsia Island connects the right bank and left bank parts of Zaporizhzhya and includes: six transport interchanges, 24 artificial structures - these are two extra bridges with separate buildings for each direction of traffic, 14 flyovers and eight overpasses.
