President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that during one year of his work in office, thanks to the talks with world leaders, the Normandy and Minsk formats, Ukraine managed to release about 150 detained Ukrainian citizens and establish a comprehensive ceasefire regime in Donbas, which has already lasted for 31 days.
"For 31 days there have been no combat injuries, no casualties on the frontline. It seems to me that this is a good result. We also returned about 150 people. Thanks to dialogue, thanks to meetings, many hours of talks, negotiations with many leaders of different countries and, I think, a little bit thanks to me," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a conversation with media representatives in the framework of a working trip to the Kirovohrad region.
He noted that establishing peace in eastern Ukraine is his duty as President and one of his campaign promises.
The President stressed that he would use all means available to him to achieve peace. In particular, the Normandy negotiating format was restored and the work of the Trilateral Contact Group was intensified.
“When we bring people back, ask their parents what we have done for their families. When there are no combat losses on the frontline now, it is also better to ask the parents of those who heroically defend our sovereignty and they are alive - living heroes. And this is my duty as the President of Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
