On the Independence Day of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife Olena visited the National Military Medical Clinical Center "Main Military Clinical Hospital" and talked to the wounded defenders and their relatives.
"Thank you for your service. Strong, brave guys who defend our country. You risk the most valuable - health and life. Guys, I wish you recovery, and I wish your families to hold on. Congratulations on Independence Day," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Among other things, the President asked whether all the necessary assistance was provided to the wounded. Doctors told about the condition of the military, who received serious injuries on the frontline, and about their treatment.
The wife of the wounded warrior Liudmyla Voron thanked the doctors for their work and professionalism.
"The strength of my husband's courage charges me as well. It's hard, but I have to hold on. Staff and hospital - low bow to everyone,” she said.
Defenders undergoing treatment were also greeted by musician Siarhei Mikhalok with the band Lyapis 98. They performed the song "Warriors of Light" and presented gifts.
"We wrote a song that became the unofficial anthem of Maidan. Ukraine celebrates Independence Day today, and people in our country also fight now singing the same songs. We hope all of you will recover. And live, like us, in a peaceful and beautiful country," Siarhei Mikhalok said.
The President of Ukraine presented state awards to the military.
