During a working trip to the Kharkiv region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held an urgent meeting with representatives of the State Emergency Service and security forces on the fires that broke out in the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions today.
"I have just had a meeting with all relevant services regarding the fires that occurred today in the Kharkiv region," the President said during a speech at the presentation of the Regional Development Strategy.
According to the President, firefighters and rescuers are currently working to extinguish the fire in the forests: more than 200 personnel, dozens of vehicles, An-32 aircraft and Mi-8 helicopter are involved in extinguishing the fire.
"The situation is now under control. We believe that we will manage to overcome the force of nature in the near future," he stressed.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the Head of the Kharkiv regional state administration to go to the fire extinguishing sites immediately after the event.
"I know that your people are working there now - to personally control this situation," the President summed up.
