President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese.
The Head of State thanked Australia and all Australian people for their assistance, primarily in the defense sector, and support for Ukrainians.
“Ukraine's priority is to ensure reliable security guarantees, strengthen our state and force Russia to end the war and establish a just and lasting peace,” the President said.
According to him, it is important to continue putting pressure on Russia and Putin, in particular by strengthening sanctions, especially against the shadow tanker fleet that allows the aggressor state to finance the war.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Anthony Albanese discussed future contacts with partners, first of all with the United States, and possible formats of cooperation with other leaders to exert joint pressure on the Russian Federation. The President particularly emphasized that holding any potential negotiations without Ukraine would be dangerous for everyone.
During the conversation, the parties also discussed the expedited delivery of the previously announced assistance package and continued defense assistance, direct investment in the Ukrainian defense industry, as well as military and technical cooperation.
Special attention was paid to the fate of Australian citizen, volunteer Oscar Jenkins, who was captured by Russia. The Head of State stressed that Ukraine is ready to make every effort to establish all the circumstances.
