Chairman of the Parliament Andriy Parubiy refused to convene an ad-hoc session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on July 18. So, in this way he withdrew from work for the benefit of Ukrainians and showed a criminal inaction, which leads to the loss of almost UAH 700 million from the state budget. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"You went on vacation for almost two-month before the begging of the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of new convocation. I want to remind you and other people’s deputies of Ukraine that one day (!) of the Parliament’s work is costs UAH 13.3 million to taxpayers.Your refusal to convene an ad-hoc session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine means that you withdrew from work for the benefit of Ukrainians as well as showed a criminal inaction, which leads to the loss of almost UAH 700 million from the state budget", Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on his Facebook page.
The Head of State reminded that, in accordance with Article 90 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the powers of the Parliament are terminated on the day of the opening of the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of new convocation. In addition, the President of Ukraine sent a letter to Andriy Parubiy on July 18 which notes that according to the time-table, the tenth session lasts until July 19, 2019. And this was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada at the plenary session on July 12.
"An ad-hoc session is convened by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during the tenth session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eighth convocation on the reasoned request of individuals until July 19, 2019", stated in the text of the document.
"It’s a shame that people who establish oneself as big professionals and supporters of the interests of the Ukrainian people can not find the strength to come for one day and correct their own mistakes as well as adopt superlative laws on the activities of the Supreme Anticorruption Court of Ukraine. The same applies to deferment of liability of car owners with a European registration and return of the norm about illegal enrichment, which the Constitutional Court of Ukraine canceled from your own fault," the President said.
At the same time, the Head of State noted that he was not surprised by the refusal of Andriy Parubiy, because he believes that working capacity and heroism are not the most powerful features of the Parliament of the current convocation.
"Unfortunately, in the view of the people of Ukraine the current Parliament is associated with the lack of a coalition, piano voting, an empty hall during the adoption of laws, voting eighteen times for bills and other gross violations of the Regulation," the President said, adding that it will be changed on July 21.
