The government is carefully studying the practices of overcoming coronavirus abroad, as well as the experience of other countries in preparing for the start of the new school year on September 1. This school year is especially important for first-graders. This was announced to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a traditional conference call held under his chairmanship.

At the same time, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that today the incidence of COVID-19 in Ukraine is 62.4 people per 100,000 population. However, such a large number arose due to the outbreaks in some regions, such as Vinnytsia, Zakarpattia, as well as the city of Kyiv.

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said the number of people diagnosed with pneumonia is declining, noting that all those who died that day from COVID-19 - 21 people - had serious comorbidities and were in the group of risk.

The Ministry of Health will also deal with the situation in the Kharkiv Regional Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, which has become a center of social tension due to the lack of places for patients with COVID-19 and the lack of doctors.

At the meeting, the President stressed that he expects the opening of the Okhmatdyt Hospital as soon as possible, which was postponed from June 1 to the end of July due to the coronavirus epidemic.

"Yes, it was difficult to complete everything due to the coronavirus pandemic. But we have now sufficiently stabilized the situation, both economically and in the field of healthcare. Therefore, it is necessary to speed up the opening for the treatment of Ukrainian children in our best children's hospital Okhmatdyt,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
