The number of cases of coronavirus infection in Ukraine in the last 24 hours has exceeded 1,000, and this is a cause for concern. This was discussed at a traditional conference call chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov reported on the division of the territory into new "green" and "red" zones according to European standards where the epidemiological situation will be considered separately in each region, city and district.

The Head of State raised the issue of preparation for the local elections scheduled for October 25.

"Obviously, the upcoming elections will be held against the background of certain restrictions due to coronavirus infection. We have to elaborate mechanisms, procedures and funding already now to ensure the safety of Ukrainians and allow them to vote freely for candidates," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov drew attention to providing a sufficient number of those who will ensure the order during the voting, especially after the adoption of bills that will require more law enforcement officers in the elections.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak said that the situation in the area of the Joint Forces Operation is stably under control, there are no patients with COVID-19.

Ruslan Khomchak noted that the ceasefire regime is being observed by both sides, isolated cases of violation are not systemic. No one has been wounded or killed since the ceasefire came into effect.
