In Ivano-Frankivsk, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the stadium of A. P. Gemba sports complex, which was overhauled in the framework of the “Great Construction” National Program.
"It can become a real sports "magnet" of the region," Ivano-Frankivsk RSA Head Vitaliy Fedoriv noted.
The cost of overhaul of the complex is UAH 34 million.
"Sports infrastructure needs no less attention than roads and other facilities. Because sport is one of those areas that ensure social development, allow people - and especially young people - to find ways to self-realization, to seek new communications, to learn to act together - in a team. This is what our society lacks. We usually have every man for himself or for his close ones - in the very narrow sense of the word. And we need to learn to be a team and achieve success together," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“It is a pleasure to be at the opening of this stadium as part of our great program. In October, the Minister (Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine) promised to hold the Ukrainian Athletics Championships right here in Ivano-Frankivsk, at this stadium,” the Head of State added during a conversation with the media and wished the athletes victory.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also watched other objects of the "Great Construction" program in the region. Among them are the reconstruction and overhaul of five schools and kindergartens, which introduce modern energy-saving technologies. According to the RSA Head, three out of five schools have been put into operation and children already study there. The kindergartens are planned to be commissioned in October.
The President expressed discontent with this state of affairs and stressed that he had instructed to complete all the repair work in schools and kindergartens by the beginning of the school year.
As for the sports facilities of the "Great Construction" in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, according to the RSA Head, it is planned to carry out the construction of one and the repair of two stadiums (one of which - named after Gemba - has already been completed), the reconstruction of the football field and the construction of the gym.
