During a working trip of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the Cherkasy region, business representatives addressed the Head of State with a request to solve the problem of the lack of a kindergarten in the Mytnytsia district in Cherkasy, where up to 30,000 people live. At the same time, the nearest kindergartens are so crowded that after the birth of a child it is necessary to stand in line.
The President was told that local authorities had allocated land for construction in 2018, but despite promises, the construction of a kindergarten has not yet begun.
The institution should accommodate up to 300 children. According to the first estimate, the construction cost reached UAH 60 million. Due to inflation, the budget has increased.
The Head of State noted that such a kindergarten could be built by including the institution in the "Great Construction" program.
"We have a new head of the regional state administration. We will see how a person works. We will include it into the "Great Construction". We will try to find opportunities and resources, and build a kindergarten," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He added that the kindergarten can be built within a year, based on a typical project used in the "Great Construction" for other such institutions. This, in particular, will save time on construction. At the same time, together with the new head of the region, a new site will be found to avoid a possible blockade of the construction by the city authorities on the already allocated land.
"I think it's okay that we will take a typical project," the President said.
Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, added that construction could begin this year.
