During a working trip to Zakarpattia, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the major repair of Bertolon Linner Central District Hospital in Berehove.
Director of the institution Ivan Malesh said that in 2020 it was defined as a hub hospital and included in the "Great Construction" program, namely in terms of creating emergency departments in hub hospitals on the basis of ER departments.
Renovation of the institution began in late August. Overhaul and re-planning of the first floor of the new building for the emergency department is planned. The reconstruction of the building is to be completed by the end of the year, and the completion of the construction of the hospital is scheduled for 2022.
"We really need to complete it because the building where the surgery is now located was erected in 1936. Moreover, after the completion, there will be a single medical complex, because two large buildings will be combined," Ivan Malesh said.
In addition, he said, it is a hub hospital for two large districts and serves a significant number of people.
"I see that a modern hospital will be here. I want Ukrainians to be able to visit, and doctors to work in hospitals of European level," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President was also informed about the state of implementation of the "Great Construction" program in the Zakarpattia region. In particular, work is underway in eight hospitals, and a total of 18 projects are being implemented in the region: three kindergartens, four schools, two sports facilities, etc.
Head of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration Oleksiy Petrov noted that due to logistics and dispersal, small schools are being built in the region.
According to him, the construction of five kindergartens and five schools is envisaged in the budget for the next year. In total, according to the RSA Head, the region needs 30 kindergartens more.
The President and the leadership of the region also discussed the inclusion of historical monuments and castles in the "Great Construction" program for their restoration.
