During a working trip to the Volyn region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got himself acquainted with the course of repair works on the section of the M-07 Kyiv-Kovel-Yahodyn highway (to Lublin). The route is being renovated in the framework of the National Large Construction Program.
This road is one of the strategic ones for the state: it has a high traffic, the route leads to one of the largest checkpoints on the border of Ukraine - "Yahodyn", so it is called "Warsaw route". The highway coincides with the Baltic Sea-Black Sea transport corridor and is also part of the E373 international motorway.
The President was told that the length of the M-07 in the region is almost 160 km, and in the direction of Kovel - Yahodyn the length is 60.4 km. From 2001 to 2019, 30 km of roads were reconstructed. This year, construction works worth UAH 107.1 million are being carried out on the route.
According to Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) Oleksandr Kubrakov, on the M-07 highway in the direction of the Yahodyn checkpoint the road was reconstructed and expanded to the first category this year.
The largest amount of work was done closer to the border. Next year, the Yahodyn checkpoint is planned to be expanded and reconstructed.
"We are planning to make the M-07, from Kovel to the border, a route of the first category," the Head of Ukravtodor said.
Expansion to the first category was also carried out on the highway H-22 Kyiv - Rivne. In addition, the bypass of the city of Lutsk is completed.
The Head of State inquired about the condition of other roads connecting Lutsk with other cities and regions.
Oleksandr Kubrakov reported that half of the roads in the Volyn region are already in normal condition. As part of the "Large Construction" this year, not only international, national and regional roads are being renovated here, but also 67 km of territorial roads. Territorial roads are left for 2021, in particular the road leading to Shatsky Lakes. Its restoration also started this year and is planned to be completed next year.
"Let's do everything by the summer. After all, Shatsky Lakes are one of the best Ukrainian tourist magnets,” the President said.
