During a working trip to the Khmelnytskyi region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got himself acquainted with the course of reconstruction of the highway of state importance H-03 Zhytomyr – Chernivtsi.
The Head of State inspected the section of the highway from Starokostiantyniv to Khmelnytskyi, which is being reconstructed in the framework of the National Large Construction Program.
According to Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov, the works on this section started in March 2021. Preparatory works have already been carried out, a culvert has been installed and drainage is being laid.
The total cost of the project is UAH 321.6 million. It is planned to complete the reconstruction of the highway by the end of this year, subject to full funding.
"All procedures have already been completed here, contractors have been chosen. The site will be built this year," Oleksandr Kubrakov said.
He also stated that the main roads of national and international importance will be built in the Khmelnytskyi region this year, which will provide access to many tourist attractions.
The President stressed the importance of compliance with dimensional and weight norms on highways so that overloaded vehicles do not destroy newly built and repaired highways.
According to Head of the Khmelnytskyi RSA Serhiy Hamaliy, in addition to the five automatic weighing systems available in the region, three more will be installed.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko added that a bill on the introduction of automatic dimensional and weight control on the roads of Ukraine is being considered in the parliament today. He expressed hope that after its adoption, the system will start working in three months.
The President was informed that this year 207 km of roads are planned to be repaired in the Khmelnytskyi region in the framework of the "Large Construction" program, including 41 km of the M-30 Stryi – Izvaryne highway and 95 km of the H-03 Zhytomyr – Chernivtsi highway.
