During a working trip to the Chernivtsi region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the new bridges across the Cheremosh River and inquired about the state of implementation of the National Program "Great Construction" in the region.
Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration Serhiy Osachuk noted that the region has great tourist potential. According to him, investors may be interested in the construction and development of ski resorts.
"Investors who will definitely come to the Carpathian region will immediately understand that the Putyla and Vyzhnytsia districts mean the best Carpathian landscapes and interesting routes. Therefore, send them to us," Serhiy Osachuk stressed.
The President noted that in order to unleash the tourist potential of the Chernivtsi region, the state should provide good transport connection, and business will work on the development of tourism projects.
"Airport and roads. Everything else will be done by business," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko noted that next year it is planned to resume full operation of the international airport in Chernivtsi.
"We will launch this airport next year to operate flights. And we will develop or build a new one," Kyrylo Tymoshenko said.
Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) Oleksandr Kubrakov stressed that this year in the Chernivtsi region the roads leading to the borders of Ukraine and Romania were repaired. Reconstruction of the M-19 highway section is also underway.
In total, 70 kilometers of roads are planned to be repaired in the region in 2020.
The President was also told that the city of Chernivtsi is the only regional center in Ukraine that does not have a full-fledged bypass road. Therefore, the entire flow of freight and passenger traffic passes directly through the city - Halyts'kyi Shlyakh and Khotyns'ka streets. Given this, Khotyns'ka Street is in an emergency condition, has ruts, potholes and cracks, significant damage to the pavement, which can no longer be repaired by patch works.
At present, design and estimate documentation has been prepared and an examination of the project for the reconstruction of this street has been carried out, according to which the total cost of road repairs is almost UAH 220 million, while a target subvention of UAH 200 million has already been allocated for the project. Negotiations are underway to sign an agreement with the contractor.
Also in the framework of the "Great Construction" program in Bukovyna, 20 infrastructure projects are being implemented: five schools, five kindergartens, five stadiums and five ER departments.
ER departments are to be completed in October this year. All the necessary medical equipment is expected to arrive in November, and the departments will have started working by the end of the year.
