COVID-19 vaccine to be available in Ukraine shortly: President speeds up supplies within his powers

The COVID-19 vaccine will be available in Ukraine in the near future. This was announced during a traditional conference call chaired by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"According to the vaccine supply schedule, vaccination will be guaranteed to all citizens of Ukraine. Public vaccination will be free. Military doctors and JFO participants are among the first to be vaccinated. As well as doctors who are at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19, the elderly and other citizens at risk," the President said, noting that in the field of vaccination, Ukraine is adopting the experience of other countries.

Prevention of the spread of COVID-19 in Prykarpattia was discussed in detail.

According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the situation in the Ivano-Frankivsk region remains tense.

"Over the past 24 hours, 515 patients have been registered. All beds are occupied in most hospitals. A mobile hospital was deployed. A regional commission on technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies was held with the participation of the chief public health physician. Tomorrow it is planned to hold a state commission on technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies to take a number of measures that meet the red level of quarantine restrictions," he said.

The Prime Minister also informed about the growing number of patients in the Vinnytsia region and Zakarpattia.

According to Denys Shmyhal, 68332 beds for patients with COVID-19 are ready in Ukraine today, 58390 of them have oxygen supply.

Chief public health physician Viktor Lyashko noted that in the regions with an increase in the number of COVID-19 patients, the duration of hospitalization is increasing as well: earlier it lasted 7-8 days, now - 19-20.

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said that the online system for registration in the queue for vaccination is ready to work. The parties decided that it will be launched in March.
