137 Judges Have Taken the Oath in the Ukrainian House

In the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, newly appointed judges have taken the oath of office and assumed their powers.

Today, 137 judges took the oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people: 121 judges of local general courts, 7 judges of administrative courts and 9 judges of commercial courts. They were appointed by Presidential decrees in July and December of this year.

They are judges from different regions of Ukraine: Vinnytsia region – 8, Volyn region – 2, Dnipro region – 9, Zhytomyr region – 10, Zakarpattia region – 2, Zaporizhzhia region – 2, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 7, Kyiv – 9, Kyiv region – 12, Kirovohrad region – 1, Lviv region – 4, Mykolaiv region – 2, Odesa region – 19, Poltava region – 7, Rivne region – 4, Sumy region – 3, Ternopil region – 2, Kharkiv region – 9, Kherson region – 1, Khmelnytsky region – 3, Cherkasy region – 9, Bukovyna – 4, Chernihiv region – 8.

At the previous ceremony held this July, 248 local court judges took the oath, including 208 judges of local general courts, 22 administrative courts, and 18 commercial courts.

Taking the oath is a requirement of the Law of Ukraine "On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges." After taking the oath, a judge acquires powers and can administer justice.
