Pursuant to the instruction of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Deputy Heads of the Presidential Office Rostyslav Shurma and Oleh Tatarov held the first meeting of the coordination platform, which will address problematic issues arising between business and law enforcement agencies.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev, Deputy Prosecutor General Dmytro Verbytskyi, and Head of the Main Detective Unit of the Bureau of Economic Security Oleksandr Tkachuk.
The following business representatives joined the meeting: Roman Romanchuk, CEO of Multiplex, Radyslav Tkachenko, co-founder of Time Investment Group, Mykhailo Polyakov, fiscal regulation manager at Philip Morris Ukraine, and Oleksiy Pakhomov, head of the grain division at Olam Ukraine.
"We have started a dialogue with businesses, comprehensively analyzing their cases. In the near future, we intend to conduct a deeper examination. In the meantime, we see that the situations are quite diverse. There are cases of truly inadequate treatment of entrepreneurs by law enforcement agencies. However, there are also cases where businesses have violated the law and the state has apparently suffered losses. Therefore, we will find compromise solutions to cases in the framework of the current legislation and change the laws where necessary," said Rostyslav Shurma.
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office emphasized that following two or three meetings of the coordination platform, it will be possible to determine what legislative changes should be made to avoid ambiguous interpretation of the law.
"As a result of today's meeting, it is clear that business and law enforcement agencies often interpret legislation very differently. This is especially true when it comes to tax legislation and receiving state aid or benefits. Therefore, we need more clarity in this area," said Rostyslav Shurma.
The meetings are planned to take place at the Office of the President of Ukraine on a weekly basis.
