Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Mudra held a meeting on legislative regulation of legal education.
The event was attended by Members of Parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Justice, scholars and experts in the field of legal education.
Iryna Mudra noted that the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation has prepared a number of proposals on the concept of the draft law on the reform of legal education.
"The Presidential Office, together with the Verkhovna Rada Committee, the Government, lawyers and experts, will work on the implementation of the reform of legal education. This is the kind of reform that should be coordinated by all authorities and an appropriate concept should be developed," the Deputy Head of the Office of the President said.
The participants discussed the recommendations of the European Commission on the draft law. In particular, they include the differentiation of educational institutions capable of training legal professionals and law enforcement officers, the strengthening of practical training, the expansion of master's programs and the introduction of a mixed form of education.
The parties agreed to continue joint discussions on the concept of the draft law on legal education reform.
The reform is aimed at improving the quality of legal education and harmonizing it with European standards.
