In Odesa, the Memorandum of Intent was signed between the USPA and the Port of Gdańsk in the presence of the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland

In Odesa, the Memorandum of Intent was signed between the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority" and the Port of Gdańsk in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.

The document was signed by Acting Chairman of the USPA Oleksandr Holodnytskyi and President of the Board of the Port of Gdańsk Łukasz Greinke during the participation of the Presidents of the two countries in the Ukrainian-Polish business forum in Odesa.

"I want to call for the implementation of as many joint infrastructure projects as possible. I am glad that an important document on cooperation between the ports of Gdańsk and Odesa will be signed here today. It is obvious that in the conditions of growth of mutual trade the transport sphere provides remarkable prospects,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

President Andrzej Duda noted that the Port of Gdańsk is one of the main ports in his country, and the Polish authorities intend to further develop it.

"I am glad that a Memorandum of Intent will be signed today between the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority and the Board of the Port of Gdańsk allowing for the creation of an intermodal transport corridor. I believe that thanks to the dialogue between Ukrainian and Polish partners working in the field of logistics and transport, other projects will be developed that will be very useful for both parties and integrate the economies of Poland and Ukraine," Andrzej Duda said during the business forum.

"Today, with the relevant Memorandum, we launch cooperation within the development of the Gdańsk-Black Sea transport corridor. This will help increase trade volume between our countries and support the transport market. In addition, the Memorandum will allow to fully expand the geography of container traffic from China through Ukraine to Poland to Europe and back, to implement them in different ways, with different types of transport without stops. And digital corridors will help us realize this potential at the highest level," Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Krykliy commented on signing the Memorandum.

The implementation of the Memorandum will contribute to the development and deepening of cooperation between the Ukrainian Black Sea ports and the largest Polish deep water port in the Baltic Sea - Gdańsk.

According to the document, the parties should strengthen cooperation on the development of intermodal transport and efficient use of the logistics and transport corridor connecting the Black and Baltic Seas, as well as deepen relations between Ukrainian and Polish ports, which will increase the logistics and transit capabilities of Ukraine and its business entities.

In addition, it is planned to involve Ukraine in the implementation of large-scale regional infrastructure projects by Poland in the coming years. These include the construction of the Central Communication Port (CPK), Via Carpatia, Via Baltica and Rail Baltica, as well as the Three Seas initiative in general.

This will create additional opportunities for Ukraine to use its geographical location in the field of sea, rail and road transport in the context of the European TEN-T network, the Silk Road and the transportation of goods from Europe to Asia and vice versa.

The conclusion of the Memorandum will have a positive impact on the development of maritime, transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as on the increase in bilateral trade between Ukraine and the Republic of Poland in general.
