Ukrainian Armed Forces Need People with Modern Views on the Army and Life – the President

On the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of Kruty, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with cadets and lyceum students of 18 military educational institutions, as well as defenders of Ukraine.

The Head of State thanked the future Ukrainian officers who have chosen the defense of our country and its independence as their profession.

“I am confident that our country has all the opportunities for you to learn, become truly strong Ukrainian officers, and grow into educated individuals who understand what our state needs,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.

The President noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces now need not just reliable officers, but people with modern views of the army and life.

“Under any circumstances, Ukraine's security will always – even in peacetime – depend on its strength, on each and every one of you. Our state will always need an effective army. And this is your mission,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.

He called on all educators and students to always be grateful to all Ukrainian heroes. The participants observed a minute of silence in memory of Ukrainians who gave their lives in battle.

During the meeting, the Head of State emphasized that Ukraine must win a just peace, receive reliable security guarantees and maintain a strong and capable army.

“Ukraine will always need you. Respect for the army has been at its highest level since the beginning of the war, and it is clear why. That's why your service, work, and life will always be important and relevant for Ukraine,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

The participants also discussed the improvement of curricula in military institutions, in particular through the exchange of experience with leading military universities in partner countries.

Other topics of the meeting included the increased financial support for cadets of military educational institutions. The President pointed out that, starting in March, 1st- and 2nd-year cadets will receive over UAH 8,000, while 3rd- and 4th-year cadets will receive over UAH 20,000.
