Ukrainian pensioners already receive assistance in the amount of UAH 1,000 pursuant to the initiative of the President

Most Ukrainian pensioners whose pension is less than 5 thousand hryvnias already receive additional assistance in the amount of 1 thousand hryvnias initiated by the President of Ukraine to support the needy elderly during quarantine. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal informed this at a traditional meeting chaired by Volodymyr Zelenskyy to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Most of these pensioners have already received the money on their bank cards, and UkrPoshta has started delivering payments to the rest.

“Quarantine is a difficult time, especially for the needy, for the elderly. The state must do everything to support these people in a difficult period. Assistance to the most vulnerable categories of citizens today is one of the main responsibilities of the authorities,” the Head of State said.

At the meeting, the President was also informed of the initiative of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Head to insure doctors working with patients with coronavirus and ambulance crews carrying the infected.

"I know that this insurance is designed for the consequences of both coronavirus and 140 more diseases. It is cheap. Doctors in the region are very grateful. This is a great example of how local authorities find good and qualitative solutions during the epidemic. I urge you to consider the possibility of such insurance all over Ukraine,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy summed up.
