Representatives of the Ukrainian delegation in the working group on security issues of the Trilateral Contact Group consider the shelling by illegal armed groups of Ukrainian positions in the Vodyane district of the Donetsk region as an attempt to disrupt the agreements on a permanent ceasefire. The Ukrainian party, with the help of the TCG coordination mechanisms, stopped the shelling and initiated an urgent meeting of the working group on security issues. This was announced by Oleksiy Arestovych, Adviser on Information Policy of the Ukrainian Delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group.
"Representatives of illegal armed groups yesterday opened fire on the positions of Ukrainian troops in the area of Vodyane. As a result of such actions, one of our servicemen was wounded and two were killed. In addition, in the north of Zolote-4, the enemy dropped a VOG-25 grenade on our positions with the help of a drone, as a result of which one Ukrainian soldier received multiple wounds,” Oleksiy Arestovych said.
According to him, on Friday morning, October 30, the militants continued targeted shelling in the area of Vodyane.
"Representatives of the Ukrainian delegation in the working group on security describe it as an accident that, firstly, led to tragic consequences, and secondly, has signs of a conscious escalation of the conflict aimed at deliberately disrupting the agreements on the permanent ceasefire regime that has lasted since July 27,” the adviser to the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG said.
In this regard, according to Oleksiy Arestovych, the Ukrainian party used coordination mechanisms within the Trilateral Contact Group with the OSCE and the Russian party and stopped the shelling.
"We have also now initiated an urgent meeting of the working group on security and are waiting for a response from the Russian party and the OSCE," Oleksiy Arestovych stressed.
