President at the events on the occasion of the Day of National Police: Ukrainian police knows how to be professional, how to save from evil, restore justice

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the festivities on the occasion of the Day of the National Police of Ukraine and the opening of the Center for Strategic Analysis and Forecasting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The Head of State thanked Ukrainian police officers for their service to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

"The time of a full-scale war reveals the true meaning and power of many things, and one of them is serving the state. To defend the state against all odds, to protect people against all odds, to take care of the safety on the streets of our cities and villages against all odds. In spite of everything, to be among the first to go to the liberated areas and ensure that normal life returns after the occupation. I am grateful for the effective work of the National Police of Ukraine and for your service to the state," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, addressing the police.

The President expressed gratitude to every hero in the ranks of the Ukrainian police participating in hostilities together with other warriors of the defense and security forces of Ukraine, to all those who participate in stabilization measures and ensure security in the de-occupied territory of Ukraine, as well as to all police officers who help citizens and save lives after Russian strikes.

"I would like to thank all the EOD specialists of our police, whose special service is to save people from those manifestations of Russian evil that could work against life even years later. Thank you for every Russian evil you neutralized - for every mine clearance," the Head of State emphasized.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked all the investigators of the National Police of Ukraine who are investigating criminal offenses, including war crimes. According to him, more than 84,000 such criminal proceedings have already been initiated, and there are 1,838 notices of suspicion. In addition, the National Police of Ukraine has created a special database called "War Criminal" with more than 200,000 records of Russian mercenaries and military personnel.

"Establishing the full truth about the crimes of the occupiers on our independent Ukrainian land is a fundamental prerequisite for bringing Russia to full accountability for its aggression and terror. We must do everything for justice, and I am grateful to those of you who are bringing this day closer, this time - the time of justice," the President said.

The Head of State noted that during the full-scale invasion of Russia, 507 police officers had been awarded state awards, 84 of them posthumously. Two police officers were awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine, one of them posthumously.

The participants observed a minute of silence in memory of all Ukrainian police officers who died in the war for freedom and independence of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted the police officers who serve and protect our people from dangers inside the country.

"This is their frontline - order and security on the streets of every city, village and community. We need to know that all these people are also giving their lives, and they are also heroes. They give everything they have for the sake of our country. So I want to thank you all and congratulate you on your day, which is very important for all of us," he said.

The President emphasized that people expect the National Police of Ukraine to maintain order, which has several components: legality, justice, timely assistance, humanity in attitude, understanding of the emotions of those who seek help from the police or are approached by the police.

"When people see police officers, they always see the state. You are our face. The Ukrainian police knows how to be professional, knows how to save from evil, knows how to restore justice. And I wish all of you to always be like this - always be able to guarantee order and security for Ukraine and Ukrainians, and Ukrainians will definitely always be grateful for this. Let's take care of Ukraine, our country, all our people!" Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

After the speech, the President presented state awards of Ukraine: 10 police officers received the Order "For Courage" of the III degree.

In the Center for Strategic Analysis and Forecasting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Head of State observed the work of the Situation Center.
