Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva had a phone call with National Security Advisor, Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Spain Emma Aparici.
Ihor Zhovkva informed the interlocutor of the results of consultations held in Copenhagen between national security advisors and political advisors to the leaders of the Group of Seven, the EU, the Global South and Ukraine.
"The discussion of modalities for holding the Global Peace Summit on the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula is ongoing. It is the key to achieving sustainable and just peace in Ukraine and the world. We are grateful to a significant number of countries for their willingness to join its practical implementation, in particular, by hosting the Global Peace Summit," the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office emphasized.
The parties agreed to intensify joint efforts to expand the number of participating states in the next consultations in this format.
Special attention was paid to Spain's Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2023.
"There are all prerequisites for Spain's presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2023 to become a historic one. We hope that Spain's support and leadership on the European continent, backed by Ukraine's success in rapprochement with the EU, will result in an invitation for Ukraine to start negotiations with the EU at the end of this year," said Ihor Zhovkva.
The parties also discussed Ukraine's expectations from the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius. The Deputy Head of the Office of the President emphasized that its key result should be the provision of a clear perspective for Ukraine's membership in the Alliance as soon as circumstances allow, as well as reliable security guarantees for the transition period.
The diplomatic advisors also exchanged views on contacts between the leaders of Spain and Ukraine in the near future.
