The absence of dead and wounded in Donbas during the ceasefire announced on July 27 is one of the main achievements of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group (Ukraine, Russia, OSCE) for a peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"There have been no injuries or casualties at the frontline for a month already. I think this is a great achievement. At least for our people and their relatives. This is the first thing that is being fulfilled. Therefore, we must constantly meet in the Minsk process, albeit in video format through COVID-19, but we must meet constantly so that this structure does not fall apart," the President noted during the conversation with media representatives within the working trip to the Kherson region.
He also noted that at the last meeting of the TCG, the parties managed to reach an agreement on 20 demining sites within the updated plan provided for in the communiqué of the Paris Summit of the "Normandy Four" of December 9, 2019.
"No one wanted to listen to anything, there have been arguments for a long time… We reached an agreement. 20 demining sites. It is also about saving lives," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy added that the confirmation of the meeting of advisers to the heads of state and government in the Normandy format brings the meeting of the leaders of the "Normandy Four" closer.
Given the recent achievements of the Ukrainian delegation in the TCG, the President of Ukraine expressed satisfaction with its work.
"Today, the negotiation process is not standing still. So, am I satisfied? I am. Do I want more? Yes," the Head of State stressed.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked Leonid Kuchma, the former head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, for his work and noted the work of his successor - Leonid Kravchuk.
"I believe that our Trilateral Contact Group (Ukrainian delegation - ed.) has completely revived the Minsk meetings. I believe that they breathed life into Minsk. I am also talking about the moment when Leonid Kuchma was still there. In general, now I am very pleased with the work of Leonid Makarovych Kravchuk," the President summed up.
