President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with warriors of the Engineering Forces, congratulated them on their professional holiday, and presented them with state awards.
“You carry out one of the most crucial tasks in this war – preparing the battlefield and positions for our troops. You ensure the reliability of our defenses and the success of our active operations. Ukraine needs your expertise and your courage,” said the President.
The President called for a moment of silence to honor all fallen defenders of Ukraine.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded warriors with state honors. Senior Sergeant Vladyslav Plaksyvyi received the "Golden Star" of Hero of Ukraine. Thanks to the engineering obstacles he helped install, over 20 units of enemy armored vehicles were destroyed within just four months in 2022. This August, under heavy fire, Vladyslav Plaksyvyi cleared paths through minefields along the enemy’s first defensive line in the Kursk region. He actively participated in raids and street combat in the Kursk region, where he was wounded in an enemy airstrike.
The President also awarded the warriors of the Engineering Forces with the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky (II and III Class), Orders "For Courage" (II and III Class), and Medals "To the Defender of the Motherland".
