President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that he is using all his opportunities to release Ukrainian citizens and return them to Ukraine, including Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili.
"As the President of Ukraine, I am constantly engaged in returning the citizens of Ukraine. Using the various opportunities I have due to my office. Mr. Saakashvili is a citizen of Ukraine, so it also applies to him," the President said at a press conference in Truskavets.
According to him, all institutions are involved in this work, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions working in Georgia, the Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine, as well as the Prime Ministers of the two countries.
The President added that he did not know about Mikheil Saakashvili's trip to Georgia.
"I was very surprised and saw it in the media. Everyone was looking for him. Then there was a report that he was already in Georgia - he gave the first signal about Batumi, and then he was arrested," he said.
"I did not know about it in advance - about his decision. I think this is still wrong, because he is in state power. But we need to understand all the details and risks," Volodymyr Zelenskyy added.
