Ukraine stands for enhancing cooperation between the Black Sea states to ensure security in the region - President

In order to overcome security challenges in the Black Sea region, Ukraine calls for enhanced cooperation between the countries in the field of naval forces. This was emphasized by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a statement to the media following a multilateral meeting with the Presidents of Moldova, Romania and Poland in Chișinău.

The Ukrainian Head of State stressed that the military threat around Ukraine remains high, the level of threat from the north is critical, where Belarus is used as an additional springboard for aggressive actions. Russian troops in the Transnistrian region of Moldova, Abkhazia and South Ossetia also pose a threat. And due to the active militarization of the Crimean peninsula, maritime shipping and trade in the region in general have been threatened.

"We must work together to address these current challenges. To this end, Ukraine has taken the initiative to strengthen cooperation between the naval forces of the Black Sea states. We invite our colleagues - both Romania and Moldova - to join this initiative as well," the President said.

In addition, according to him, Ukraine has consistently advocated increasing the presence of forces and assets of NATO member states in the Black Sea region, expanding joint exercise and training programs.

"The security issues outlined are important steps towards a safe and prosperous Black Sea region. Let us unite our efforts as neighbors who have a common past, as partners who see the future equally, as friendly and fraternal peoples for the success of our friendly and fraternal peoples," Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the heads of state.
