Ukraine is grateful to Japan for the support it provides to our country, in particular for its central role within the G7 presidency. It was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference for representatives of Ukrainian and foreign media entitled "February. The year of Invincibility."
"This role is important and very strong, positive. I am extremely grateful for that," the Head of State said, adding that at a certain point, Japan played as important a role in the G7 as Italy did in the European Union.
Speaking about the G7 support in general, the President said that today he spoke to the G7 leaders and heard assurances that they will continue standing with Ukraine in this struggle.
"We have the full support of the G7. Japan currently holds the presidency. 40 minutes before our meeting, I had a conversation with the G7 – Ukraine was invited. We received a lot of support," the Head of State said.
The President said that Japan would provide a lot of help to Ukraine.
"There is clear support there. I understand the amount of financing the Prime Minister will agree with the Parliament. It seems to be the procedure for approving the provision of support to Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.
The Head of State said that he is extremely grateful to the head of the Japanese government, Fumio Kishida, who showed himself to be a straightforward and transparent person.
"During the war, I realized the value of such people," the President added.
Zelenskyy said that he invited the Prime Minister of Japan to visit Ukraine, and the invitation was accepted.
"He is an expected guest. Japan is expected in Ukraine. Japan has provided great support to Ukraine," the Head of State said.
