Ukraine and Sweden Launch Negotiations on a Bilateral Security Agreement

According to the instructions of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and following his recent telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, Ukraine and Sweden have started negotiations on the agreement on security cooperation.

According to the Presidential decree, the Ukrainian official negotiating delegation is headed by the Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak. Today's round of talks was led by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva.

“We are grateful to Sweden for its significant support to Ukraine, including military assistance, in countering full-scale Russian aggression. It is important that today we are negotiating with Sweden as a new NATO member. We look forward to further deepening of bilateral security cooperation with Sweden in all strategic areas, which will be reflected in our bilateral agreement,” Ihor Zhovkva emphasized.

The parties discussed in detail the provisions of the draft document and agreed on further steps to ensure its early finalization and subsequent signing.
