Trade, economic and investment cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania is an important issue of bilateral relations. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a joint press conference with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda following today's talks in Kyiv.
"We have agreed to unite our actions and restore the positive dynamics of our trade. We also strive to liberalize the conditions for international road transportation," said the President of Ukraine.
He noted the cooperation at the level of business circles of Ukraine and Lithuania.
During the talks, the parties also touched upon the issues of energy and energy security of Europe. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine appreciates the position of Lithuania, which opposes the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project with all possible tools, "which is a trap not only for Ukraine, but also for the countries of the whole of Europe".
"I will also note that the key task for us is to synchronize Ukraine's energy system with Europe in the next three years. This is a kind of "homework" for Ukraine and Lithuania. We have created a working group for strategic cooperation in the field of energy and energy security, the relevant Declaration was signed by the Ministries of Energy of our countries," the Ukrainian President summed up.
For his part, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda stressed his support for Ukraine's maximum integration into European energy sector.
"Lithuania and Ukraine are trying to join energy independence," he said.
According to him, the countries agreed to coordinate and synchronize actions on this issue.
