Ukraine and Ireland Discussed Peace Summit Outcomes and Future Bilateral Security Agreement

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva met with Deputy Secretary for the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland Sonja Hyland.

The interlocutors discussed the outcomes of the inaugural Peace Summit and pledged to work together to increase the number of countries supporting the Joint Communiqué on a Peace Framework; they also coordinated the next steps for the implementation of future international activities in this regard.

"We are grateful for the personal participation of the Taoiseach of Ireland, Simon Harris, in the Peace Summit and Ireland's signature on the Joint Communiqué following its results. Our joint efforts bring closer the establishment of a just peace, the restoration of the UN Charter and international law," Igor Zhovkva emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of concluding a bilateral security agreement in pursuance of the G7 Declaration of Support for Ukraine, which Ireland and more than 30 other countries joined shortly after it was signed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Taoiseach of Ireland Simon Harris agreed to begin consultations in this regard during their previous telephone conversation last month.

Ihor Zhovkva thanked the Irish side for its continued support of Ukraine, in particular on our country’s path to EU membership.
