In Woodstock, UK, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala signed an Agreement on Security Cooperation and Long-Term Support between Ukraine and the Czech Republic.

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Czechia has provided Ukraine with military assistance worth about 400 million euros and will continue to support Ukraine with the same commitment over the 10-year duration of the agreement. Czechia will also explore options for supplying additional military equipment based on Ukraine’s needs.

A significant portion of the agreement focuses on enhanced military-technical cooperation, primarily involving small and large caliber ammunition, the potential production of firearms and light weapons, as well as UAVs, electronic warfare equipment, and heavy machinery. Czechia will continue to support Ukraine through its initiative to supply 155mm and 122mm artillery shells with the backing of partner countries. Additionally, Ukraine and Czechia will enhance their industrial capacities for ammunition production and establish joint ventures.

The countries will continue their annual joint training of about 4,000 Ukrainian defenders, this year and beyond, within the framework of the EU Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine (EUMAM).

A distinctive feature of non-military cooperation is Czechia's partnership with Dnipro and the Dnipropetrovsk region for recovery, reconstruction, and sustainable development. Czechia also intends to open a diplomatic office in Dnipro to enhance cooperation and support.

Humanitarian support from Czechia includes financial and in-kind aid for civil protection and assistance to war-affected Ukrainians, particularly internally displaced persons.

The Czech Republic also reaffirms its clear support for Ukraine’s future membership in the EU and NATO.

Ukraine and Czechia signed this security agreement as part of the G7 Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine, adopted last year in Vilnius on July 12. In total, Ukraine has signed 24 security agreements to date.
