President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine will revive and strengthen its naval fleet to unblock and make the Black Sea and Azov regions safer. He said this in a statement to the media following a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Kyiv.
"We need to develop our Ukrainian Black Sea fleet in order to unblock the Black Sea and Azov regions. Therefore, it was decided at the level of our state, at the level of the National Security and Defense Council to make the Ukrainian fleet as powerful as it was 30 years ago. A fleet that would never allow Russia to illegally annex our Ukrainian peninsula and to make a militarized, as I said for comparison, aircraft carrier from the tourist heart of Ukraine," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Head of State stressed that Ukraine needs the consolidation of all its partners in this matter, and our state is working in this direction.
"We appealed to the UK - we received support. We addressed the United States, and I am going to discuss this issue with President Biden at a meeting on August 31," he said.
