Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak emphasizes that Ukraine continues hard work to achieve peace in Donbas. At the same time, Russia must also show progress. He wrote about this in his column "The Path to Peace. A Year of Efforts of President Zelenskyy's Team” for Ukrayinska Pravda online media.
Andriy Yermak stressed that the meeting in Paris at the level of the heads of state and government of the Normandy Four in December 2019 made it possible to release a large number of detainees, and later - to agree on a ceasefire on the line of delimitation.
"There is definitely a need for the next meeting of the leaders of the Normandy Four," the Head of the President's Office noted.
According to him, the meeting in the Normandy format is needed, among other things, to approve a detailed plan for the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
"This year has once again demonstrated that Ukraine will work hard to end the war and restore peace on our land. To this end, President Zelenskyy's team will defend the interests of Ukrainian citizens and the national interests of our state," Andriy Yermak said.
"Don't believe all the statements like “everything is gone”, or that someone is leaving the negotiation process, or that the negotiations have reached a stalemate - no, the negotiations are continued. Yes, these are difficult negotiations, different moments happen, but we are persistently moving forward," he stressed.
The Head of the Office of the President noted: receiving daily reports on the absence of losses in the Ukrainian army, he understands that Ukraine is on the right track.
"We need to move on. To be strong, resolute, to defend the interests of our country. But we should not forget that the path to peace is a movement of two parties, and Russia must go its part of this path," Andriy Yermak summed up.
