During a working trip to the Zakarpattia region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got himself acquainted with the work of PJSC Eurocar.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the enterprise Oleh Boyaryn demonstrated to the President the work of the manufacturing workshop, where SKD assembly and assembly of engines is carried out.
He said that the production volume of Eurocar in 2019 amounted to 6 thousand 254 cars. The company produces almost the entire model range of Skoda cars. At the same time, the production capacity is designed to produce 50 thousand cars per year, the inherent potential of modernization allows to increase the volume to 100 thousand units per year.
It is a really fundamental, modern plant. It is nice to see that such production exists in our country," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
PJSC Eurocar is located in Solomonovo industrial park - the first large-scale project in Ukraine aimed to create a high-tech industrial production site. The management company aims to form the largest industrial auto cluster in Ukraine.
Oleh Boyaryn is convinced that Ukraine should support investors who are ready to create jobs with decent working conditions and wages so that Ukrainians do not go abroad.
According to him, our country can become one of the leaders in the production of cars of world brands.
The Head of State noted that Ukraine should have its own production and industry and not build its economy solely on trade or the agricultural sector.
"Otherwise we will always lag behind others, and this cannot be our choice. So we will support the industry. As for the forms of such support, we need to think very carefully, to approach this issue as rationally as possible," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President invited representatives of the automotive industry together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture to develop a strategy for the development of the country's automotive industry.
"Work out the items of the plan jointly with the ministers of economy, infrastructure, and your colleagues, whom you consider professionals," the President suggested, noting that he would wait for the presentation.
Eurocar is the official manufacturer of vehicles of the Volkswagen Group in Ukraine.
