After the end of the war, Ukraine will have a large number of veterans and civilians who have suffered various injuries as a result of hostilities, so our country should become an example of creating a barrier-free environment. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with the university community on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute".
The Head of State noted that the development of barrier-free accessibility should be carried out by the state together with local communities, as the scope of work required in each region will be different, as the degree of destruction of the infrastructure of settlements will differ. The number of people with injuries will also vary.
According to the President, the best international experience should be used in the issue of barrier-free accessibility, but Ukraine will have to create a lot on its own, because in recent years no one has faced the need to provide conditions for such a large number of people.
"The Ministry of Veterans has to change the policy in general. They will develop policies and implement relevant legislation for 1.5 million people. It will be a large number. We must be an example of barrier-free access," the Head of State summarized.
