5 February 2021 - 17:14

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Health Minister Maksym Stepanov on the supply of COVID-19 vaccines to Ukraine.

The Head of State controls the supply of vaccines and has repeatedly urged world leaders to help speed up the provision of high-quality and approved vaccines.

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov told Volodymyr Zelenskyy that today Ukraine had received confirmation of the supply of 12 million doses of AstraZeneca and Novavax vaccines. Deliveries will take place starting from February 2021.

"The sooner we get the vaccines, the faster we will overcome the pandemic in Ukraine. I know that the Cabinet of Ministers is working thoroughly to develop a website that will help Ukrainians register for vaccination easily and conveniently. Like every Ukrainian, I am waiting for the beginning of the vaccination process. 12 million doses is a good signal from our partners, and this will be enough to ensure vaccination within the first months after the start of the deliveries," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

The Minister of Health said that an agreement had been reached on the supply of vaccines developed with the participation of AstraZeneca (UK and Oxford University) and Novavax (USA), which are produced under licensing agreements using the capacities of the Serum Institute (India). The received confirmation will be implemented through a contract between Serum Institute and Crown Agents.
