President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Antonov International Cargo Airport in Hostomel participated in the meeting of Antonov An-225 Mriya transport aircraft with medical means to combat the spread of coronavirus.
The aircraft has delivered more than 100 tonnes of humanitarian cargo from the Chinese city of Tianjin - one of the largest batches in recent weeks.
"Our “Mriya” has brought 12 million masks to Ukraine - both for hospitals and pharmacies. It also brought about 260,000 safety glasses for our doctors and over 100,000 suits of the fifth level of protection,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said after the cargo inspection.
Previously, the Ukrainian An-225 assisted other countries in combating COVID-19 by transporting humanitarian cargo to Poland and France.
“We are proud that Ukraine is changing its image in the world. We not only ask for something, but also help other countries,” the President said.
The Head of State thanked the aircraft crew and the specialists who help deliver special means to Ukraine.
After the medical examination, the crew will be sent for observation.
