The problem of car queues at border checkpoints needs to be addressed comprehensively, because it has several aspects, as stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with media representatives within a working trip to the Zakarpattia region.
"This is not an issue of today. This is the issue that has been topical for several years, since our exports increased, focusing on the western market. Of course, queues emerged. That is, today there is a lack of border checkpoint capacity infrastructure," the Head of State said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that yesterday, during the inspection of Uzhhorod - Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint, the Minister of Finance, the Head of the State Border Service and the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine discussed plans to build new infrastructure facilities at the border.
"Money will be invested in the opening of separate, additional checkpoints," the President stressed.
In addition, the President noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will discuss the problem of car queues at border checkpoints with his colleagues from neighboring countries.
"The problem is not only at this checkpoint. We have many neighbors, many countries, and there are long queues everywhere. We must be friends with our neighbors, but at the diplomatic level we must also put pressure," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President said that yesterday he talked to truck drivers who are forced to stand in line at the border with Slovakia for three or four days due to the low capacity of the Slovak side.
"We have normal relations now with our neighbors, so we will ask them to speed up this process," the President of Ukraine said.
