President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy considers the official visit to the State of Qatar extremely successful, as it will boost relations between the two countries to a new level. In the framework of this visit, 13 important interstate documents and 2 commercial contracts were signed, which will attract billions of investments into the Ukrainian economy.
"I am very happy that this visit has taken place. We had a fundamental meeting with the Emir of the State of Qatar, with the Prime Minister of Qatar, with almost the entire government of this country. Our ministers will continue to communicate with their colleagues, as Qatar is interested in many things," the Ukrainian President said after the meetings with the Emir of the State of Qatar and the Prime Minister, Minister of Interior of Qatar.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy especially noted the signing of 15 documents: 13 interstate agreements and 2 commercial contracts. According to him, cooperation between Ukraine and Qatar at this level is a great unprecedented success. Work is also underway on other contracts that are planned to be signed in the near future.
"In general, I believe that relations between our countries will reach a new level. We have already signed the Memorandum, and will soon sign an important document on food security in the given region. Qataris are very interested in this, and Ukraine is very interested in supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG), as well as in involving Qatari specialists in the development of our Black Sea shelf. We have signed a large memorandum between our states, and I think we will achieve results in this direction," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The President reminded that the Qatari port operator QTerminals had already entered the Ukrainian ports in the framework of the concession and was interested in the next steps.
"We will develop and modernize Ukrainian ports. With such reliable partners, Ukraine can become a major harbor in the Black Sea region," he said.
The President of Ukraine also noted the importance of signing documents on the recognition of diplomas of Ukrainian seafarers, as well as Ukrainian driver's licenses.
In addition, during the World Cup in Qatar at the end of 2022, Ukrainian police officers will come to help ensure security on the streets of the cities that will host the competition.
"We should be proud of that - our men are already taken as the best," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to him, Qatar is also interested in entering the banking market of Ukraine.
"For our part, we also offered them corresponding positions - they are choosing," the President said.
The President added that Qataris were interested in investing in the hotel infrastructure of Kyiv, Kherson region and Odesa.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the Qatari side could become a partner in the construction of a ring road around Kyiv.
"We’d like to build a fundamental, big road with bridges. This will be a significant cost, and it will be harder for Ukraine to do it alone. We will do it anyway, but it is always better having such partners," he stressed.
According to the President, during the meetings in Qatar, the parties had also discussed the construction of the subway and railways.
The Ukrainian President also believes that Qatar's experience in the development of its national airline Qatar Airways can be used in preparation for the launch of the Ukrainian state airline. According to the President, in late August - early September, a large group of specialists from Qatar is to arrive in Ukraine to visit Antonov state enterprise and Boryspil International Airport to get themselves acquainted with Ukrainian aircraft and opportunities in passenger and cargo transportation.
