Ukraine is ready to start rebuilding the bridge near Stanytsia Luhanska in the near future. This was stated during a briefing on the results of the 21st Ukraine-EU Summit on July 8 by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"There is money in the budget, there are proposals from our western partners. But this requires that the other side dismantle concrete fortifications. They said they needed 8-10 days. We are ready to do this in 2-3 days, but this should be a parallel process. The parties agreed on it. My proposal after what I saw there is that we will not wait for long," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that local residents, especially the elderly, in Stanytsia Luhanska had asked to rebuild the bridge.
According to the Head of State, the bridge is planned to be built in a month, and it will be done by civilians.
The President also says that people now cover the distance between the checkpoint and the place where the bridge will be built on foot. Therefore, he offered the new Luhansk RSA Head to organize the movement of passenger electric cars and buses on this route.
Donald Tusk, for his part, stressed that Ukraine had fulfilled all its obligations regarding the withdrawal of troops. At the same time, the other side has not yet done so.
"This will probably be a way to test their commitment," Donald Tusk said.
