Ukraine is grateful for the continued support provided by Poland to protect Ukraine's interests at the level of the European Union and NATO. It was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the joint briefing with President of Poland Andrzej Duda on June 4 in Brussels.
"Poland is an old and loyal friend of Ukraine in the European Union, a persistent advocate of the European prospect for Ukraine, a resolute defender of our country's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the international arena," the Head of State emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Andrzej Duda for the fact that Ukraine can further rely on the firm support of Poland and cooperation in multilateral formats, in particular at the European level.
The Head of State also noted that Ukraine and Poland shared the vision of the key issues for Europe on foreign policy and security.
"We must preserve our unity so that our common voice can be heard and taken into account in the pan-European context. We have a common understanding of the depth of the threats that Russia poses to the entire Europe, and we are struggling together to keep the EU’s unity and solidarity with Ukraine in the fight against the aggression," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President noted that due to the consolidated position, we had managed to ensure greater engagement of the European Union in counteraction to Russia's influence on electoral processes in the EU and Ukraine.
According to the Head of State, another important direction of interaction between Ukraine and Poland at the European level is the issue of energy security, preservation of the strategic role of the Ukrainian GTS and counteraction to the Nord Stream 2.
"I am determined to facilitate the process of reconciliation and prevent the domination of complicated moments in the history of Ukrainian-Polish relations on the agenda of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland," the President added.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that he had gratefully accepted the invitation of the Polish President to make a visit to Warsaw.
"I hope and believe that by joint efforts we will create a story of success of the relations of sincere friendship and partnership between Ukraine and Poland. I am convinced that the list of our common goals, interests and projects that we will jointly defend and implement, in particular at the European level, will further expand. This is the purpose of our strategic partnership and common future," the President emphasized.
Andrzej Duda noted that it was the first meeting with the current President of Ukraine and expressed hope that the joint efforts would bring numerous achievements to our nations.
"I assured the President that he enjoys our support in the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine," Andrzej Duda said, noting that Poland would continue to support Ukraine's efforts aimed to restore the territorial integrity and sovereignty within the borders recognized by the international community.
"Ukraine is our good neighbor, and we are going to build our relations in a mutually beneficial and best way. Ukraine is a great country with significant potential. We want to help it develop," the President of Poland emphasized, adding that the level of bilateral trade was good and there were prospects for its improvement.
The President of Poland hopes for the reconciliation of the two countries in historical issues and the establishment of the truth through the work of experts.
Andrzej Duda also invited Volodymyr Zelenskyy to visit Warsaw on the anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War.
