Ukraine will help businesses and poor citizens survive the crisis - President

The Ukrainian state will help businesses and people affected by the quarantine measures, as stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the talk show “Freedom of Speech by Savik Shuster”.

“Separately, the government has already developed a large program to support SMEs, the most needy and those affected by coronavirus, as well as the economic crisis. For this support, a program has been developed: there are both tax pressure relief and credit holidays. For example, we had a 5-7-9 program for SMEs that can get five, seven, and nine percent loans. We set a new task: next week they will show the answer - it will be three percent for sure,” the Head of State said.

He noted that support programs could also be of interest to Ukrainians who worked abroad and returned home due to the coronavirus epidemic.

“They came - good labor force, smart and strong people. They have a small capital. We will offer them programs, including mortgages, for them to be able to open a small, medium-sized business right after the end of the coronavirus epidemic,” the President said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also noted that the implementation of projects creating additional jobs would be continued. In particular, it is planned to increase funding for the Great Construction program.

“We had a Great Construction program - for 85 billion hryvnias we were going to build 4 thousand kilometers of roads. This is 10 times more than in any year in Ukraine. We are now increasing this program - we have found additional 20 billion hryvnias and we want to build up to 4.7 thousand - 4.8 thousand kilometers of roads,” the President said.
