Ukraine for Every Child: State Platform on Adoption and Family Care Has Been Launched

The Ministry of Social Policy together with the Coordination Center for the Development of Family Upbringing and Child Care have launched the state online platform "Ukraine for Every Child". This was announced by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Yulia Sokolovska in a video message on the occasion of the International Day of Families.

"Now we especially realize that home is where family and relatives are. But thousands of children in Ukraine do not have parents who care about them. And adults do not know how to help children. Only 14% to 27% of adults know about the existence of family forms of upbringing. An even smaller number – only 5% – are aware of patronage," said Yulia Sokolovska.

The single state online platform provides information about adoption and family forms of upbringing: guardianship and custody, foster families, large foster families and patronage. Potential parents can get a step-by-step algorithm of actions, expert advice, and take an online educational course for future adopters.

The platform was created as part of the reform of the child care and support system with financial support from the EU and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine.
