Ukraine appreciates the support of the Slovak presidency in the OSCE - President

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajčák on June 13.

The Head of State thanked for the active role of the OSCE, in particular the Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, in resolving the situation in Donbas.

The President stresses that the ceasefire and the return of peace to Donbas is a key priority of its activities, as Ukraine loses its warriors and the civilian population on a daily basis.

"The main purpose for me is to stop the war, to cease fire, to return our hostages home," he said.

According to the Head of State, Ukraine has taken a number of steps to establish peace, in particular, those aimed to intensify the peace process on the Minsk platform. "We cannot wait for a long time, as we are talking about the lives of our people, so today we have already tried to restore talks in the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group. One meeting has already been held, we appointed the representative of Ukraine in the TCG - the second president Leonid Kuchma, other professional people that will work in its subgroups," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. The President of Ukraine also expressed his conviction about the need to move forward with a view to achieving concrete tangible results in order to "lead this process to the final".

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also shared his memories of his trip to the delimitation line in the first days after his appointment. He stressed that he had visited the east not only to see the conditions in which Ukrainian military serve, but also to personally support the defenders.

In his turn, Miroslav Lajčák assured the Ukrainian side of the willingness of the OSCE to comprehensively facilitate the achievement of sustainable peace in Donbas.
