Full life in the territories of the western regions of Ukraine affected by the flood will be restored as soon as possible. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the air of the program Right to Power on 1+1 TV channel.
"I set a task for the government, and today at 2 pm the government allocated about 750 million hryvnias to restore all this," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a television broadcast from the Ivano-Frankivsk region, where he is on an urgent working trip.
The President said that some damaged buildings could not be restored, so people would be relocated to other apartments.
"People need diesel fuel, rubber boats, food, water. Because almost everything is flooded," the Head of State said, adding that everything necessary is available.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that as a result of the floods thousands of buildings were destroyed and about 10,000 hectares of agricultural land were flooded. Roads, dams and several old bridges were also destroyed.
"Now all roads of state importance have been restored. Employees of the State Emergency Service, the National Guard, the National Police, and the Ukravtodor work here. I also want to thank the locals for working together. It will take some time," the President said, noting that "people are impressed by the work of our services".
He called for hard work to overcome the consequences of the bad weather.
"First, to restore all settlements and infrastructure. Second, to find a comprehensive solution to the problem of flooding and prevent a recurrence of this in the future," the President emphasized.
