Ukrainian-language audio guides have been launched in the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and the Church Heritage Museum in Vilnius, as announced by Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska.
In Pompeii Park, located at the site of the ancient Roman city, the Ukrainian audio guide is available through the MyPompeii mobile app.
Olena Zelenska expressed gratitude to Italy, the museum, and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Naples for making the project possible.
“This is not only about comfort for Ukrainians. It is also about respect for the language of the country that is resisting destruction every day. But dictators are not a natural disaster after all. They can and must be resisted. This is what Ukraine is doing and showing by example,” she said.
A Ukrainian audio tour is also now available in the Church Heritage Museum in Vilnius.
“I hope Ukrainian visitors, like me, will be fascinated by the story of the preservation of the ancient treasures of the Lithuanian cathedral, which were walled up on the eve of World War II and rediscovered only in the 1980s. It’s yet another proof that national heritage doesn’t vanish but returns to the people to whom it belongs. And no war can prevent the preservation of culture and memory,” emphasized the First Lady.
She thanked Lithuania, the museum, and Ukraine’s embassy in the country for bringing this project to fruition.
As part of Olena Zelenska’s initiative to facilitate Ukrainian-language integration into global cultural landmarks, 94 Ukrainian-language audio guides are now available in 50 countries.
